Welcome to Yokohama Minami Preschool! My name is Mr. Emman, and I am so excited to welcome your child into our English classroom. We are building a wonderful community of learners through learning a new language. For young children, language is best learned through joyful immersion, not pressure. We will use a gentle and fun approach that is full of games, songs, stories, and engaging, hands-on activities. I will use simple, repetitive language alongside lots of visual cues and gestures to help your child connect words with meaning in a natural way. In our classroom, every effort to communicate is important as they grow in their confidence. We believe that your child’s home language is a great strength, not a barrier. Continuing to speak, read, and share stories with your child in your English language is one of the best ways to support their overall language and cognitive development throughout the year. So let’s not see English as just a subject in a classroom, but as a bridge. A bridge to new cultures, to new ideas, and to new friendships. By embracing this language, we don’t just expand our vocabulary; we expand our world!
